SEASON FRAGMENTS WORLDBUILDING: The Spring Kingdom/Spring Empire

INFORMATION: This post is only a reference-post for my upcoming novel Season Fragments. Every information has been made up by yours truly and redistributing ANYTHING of it is PROHIBITED.

It's said that Japan is at it's prettiest when Spring starts and the cherry blossoms start to bloom, right? Visiting the Spring Kingdom is the same. In the Season Fragments Universe, seasons don't change. That's why the continent Siestro has four Kingdoms that's based off the four seasons.

But why am I bringing Japan in this topic? Because the Spring Kingdom is most likely inspired by and based off Japan. However, just like Japan, the Spring Kingdom has an emperor- an empress to be precise. Since Siestro has an equality law, it does not matter if a woman or a man reigns a Country. The actual name for the Spring Kingdom is the Spring Empire - 'Spring Kingdom' is more the colloquial term for it.

There's no day when the Cherry Blossoms do not bloom at the Spring Empire. Just like any other Kingdom it's a powerful spell that keeps the Empire just as it is: Keeping the season all the time.

The inhabitants of the Spring Empire follow a strict and spiritual believe, visit shrines and temples and pray to the gods for fortune. They also organize traditional festivals and events in order to thank the gods for everything.

The Gods are based off the belief of the Shintoism, and it seems like the elder generation of the Empire owns a little shrine in their house, dedicated to the Deity they believe on.

The Spring Empire is quite famous for it's architecture and culture, which is why it is mostly crowded and visited by foreigners that come from the other three Kingdoms. The foreigners seem to like the food and the way how the inhabitants are treating them. The inhabitants are really polite and welcoming.

The Spring Empire owns several Sorcery and Fighting Schools. Those who wish to serve the Empire go to Samurai Schools or Ninja Academies. As for the Sorcery Schools, the Sorcerers end up becoming Shrine Maiden or Monks/Priests, serving for the temples and shrines. It's rare that anyone who has absolved the Sorcery School will end up serving the Empire as they tend more to the physical way of protection.

The Spring Empire has a lot of amusement districts, meant to decoy male tourists and inhabitants respectively. A lot of geisha and courtesans work there, most likely for entertainment. Little children are not allowed to visit the amusement districts- however, for the Okiyas (Geisha houses) it is common to see children running around the district, most likely because they work for the respective Okiya.

The Spring Empire is also known for their fish transport. Since it has a big port, it has a lot of fishermen and ships who get the fish and sell them to the other respective Kingdoms. The Empire thinks that peace between the Kingdoms would only exist if they work together and share their special treats- such as the fish of the Spring Empire and the fruits of the Summer Kingdom.

  1. I have to say this was a fun and very interesting read! *_* Your story idea or story itself sounds so cool and blew me away. Everything I read I could picture in my head of ideas of what everything looks like. I like that your using Japanese stuff of the culture itself in the story. Always a plus for me since I'm half and a fan of the culture as well. But really when reading this I could see what the flowers looked like in the kingdom. Sounds silly or odd but thats just me ^^;; Anyway awesome post dear~<3 I hope to hear more about it soon and will draw some more sketches for you. If you like still. Hope all is well for you lately and please take care as always~<3

    1. Thank you so much Jo!! A lot of concepts are currently planned and I just have drafted a post about the introduction of the four protagonists which I may be posting next week or so. I am currently working on the concepts of the characters too- how they'd look like by the appearance ( we have a transgender character and a little child i.e. ) and what their characteristics are. If you are willing to work on some sketches just go for it! I accept every support that's given to me and I'm really grateful of it!
Same goes to you, Jo! Take care and have a nice one!
